Special Irish Paintings

Here are some paintings from Ireland that stir something deep within me.

Emigrant Ship, by Edwin Hayes

When I was staying at the Monastery Hostel in Letterfrack, I was lucky enough to have a print of a 19th century painting by Trevor Fowler, that depicted children dancing at a crossroads.

And I can't get this painting out of my mind.

Nothing to say about the Cold War?

Well, Putin has just "suspended" Russian adherence to a Cold War treaty in response to Bush's plans to install a missile shield in Poland. This seems like big news to me, and I am wondering why none of the presidential candidates have commented on it.

Like, one of the main treaties that has helped stabilize the world is falling apart, and none of the candidates has anything to say? C'mon Obama - what do you think of that? How about you, Hillary?

The Rise of the Corporation

I saw a great article on corporations today, thanks to digg. The article gives an overview of the rise of the corporation in modern life. It was interesting to me that corporations have all the rights of human beings, but none of the responsibilities.

Sounds like modern day zombies - bodies without souls, consuming life.

A number of of external sources are cited in the article.

Count me in!

Hi all,

after reading about the presidential candidates in the newspaper, I have concluded that I could probably do at least as good a job as any of them. So, this is my official announcement that I am planning to enter the 2008 Presidential Race!!!

I will need to spend some time getting the paperwork filled out, and I am sure that there is quite a lot, so you probably won't be reading about me in the papers too soon. But just tune in to this site and I will let you know how it is going, and answer any questions you may have for me.

Well, I better get to work!
